Jenn Tisdale’s first job was at the Maryland Renaissance Festival at the age of 13. She sold the classic 16th century fare that is milk and cookies. If she understood then that one could turn that job into a career, she would still be there. As it stands, she has a tattoo of Anne Boleyn on her left thigh and goes back every season as a guest. Huzzah!
Since then, she has had several “Joe jobs” as Wayne once put it in Wayne’s World. Unlike Wayne, Jenn doesn’t have a collection of hairnets but somewhere there is a graveyard where all of her sensible black slacks have died. RIPants.
Jenn finally struck gold when she began writing for the now defunct Brightest Young Things (BYT), an online magazine/events company based out of Washington, D.C. When she left her job at a law firm, where she once met the first of two Kennedys she would encounter in her life, she began working for BYT full-time in sales. Five years into her time there she gave birth to Death Becomes Us, a true crime festival that drew over 20,000 rabid fans during its brief but glorious run.
Sadly BYT was one of many corporate casualties of the pandemic, which forced Jenn to rethink her entire existence. She successfully pivoted to writing full-time at Distractify, an entertainment website that endeavors to answer all of life’s questions. After relentlessly lobbying for more true crime on the site, she was promoted to true crime editor where she morbidly exists today.
